Welcome

We are delighted to invite you to the 12th International Symposium on Ecohydraulics (ISE 2018) in Tokyo. The symposium will jointly be convened by the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) and International Society for River Science (ISRS). The event aims to bridge the knowledge gap between hydraulics and biological systems in Hydro-Environment. The major themes of the ISE 2018 are a) aquatic biota movements, b) e-flows, i.e. environmental, instream or ecological flow regimes, and c) lake and river habitat restoration. The symposium will also cover other themes related to ecohydraulics, riparian and lake ecosystems, for example hydraulics, water engineering, fluvial processes and geomorphology.

Call for special session

Special sessions will be organized in parallel to the regular sessions. The goal of special sessions is to provide a focused discussion of new research topics and innovative applications within the scope of the symposium. Each special session will consist of 6, 12, 18 or 24 presentations.

A special session proposal should include the following items:
1.Title of the special session
2.A synopsis of the special session (maximum 200 words)
3.4-6 representative keywords for the theme of the special session
4.Organizer’s name, affiliation, and contact information
5.Topics of interest

Special session proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness and uniqueness of the topic as well as qualifications of the proposers. After review, a decision on the proposed special session will be sent to the proposers within 2 weeks. Provisionally accepted special sessions will be listed on the symposium website. However, it is possible that an accepted proposal will be combined with another one to avoid multiple special sessions covering a similar topic.

All special session abstracts will be reviewed with the same criteria as regular session abstracts. During abstract submission, the authors will be required to specify which session they are submitting their abstract to.

Submission

Proposals should be sent via e-mail in MS-Word or PDF format to the special session chair:
Shinji Fukuda <shinji-f@cc.tuat.ac.jp>
All proposals should be submitted by April 31st, 2017. Early proposals are highly encouraged.
Please feel free to address any question or suggestion you might have to the special session chair.
